AI is making the boundaries between Software Engineers and Product Managers thinner than ever.
Product Managers can now build working prototypes, explore technical solutions, and turn ideas into something tangible without always depending on Engineering.
Software Engineers can now explore customer needs, conduct market research, analyze competitors, and understand business opportunities more easily with AI.
Things that used to sit clearly within one role are becoming more accessible to the other.
And I think that's exciting.
It's not about turning PMs into Engineers or Engineers into PMs. Both roles still bring different perspectives, expertise, and strengths.
But AI is giving us the opportunity to learn and contribute beyond our traditional boundaries.
Engineers can better understand the why behind what we build. PMs can better understand the how and the trade-offs involved.
Maybe in the future, the distinction between PMs and Engineers won't matter as much as it does today.
Perhaps we'll simply see more Product Builders. People who understand problems, research opportunities, shape solutions, leverage AI, and turn ideas into meaningful products.
Not because everyone needs to master everything, but because everyone has more opportunities to grow and contribute.
The future isn't about competing over roles. It's about growing beyond them.
